OCA Honors Dr. Jackie Sherman with Don Carter Service Award

Monday, August 30th, 2010

At the Organization Change Alliance’s (OCA) Summer Networking Event on Saturday, August 28, 2010, the OCA Steering Committee surprised Dr. Jackie Sherman with the Don Carter Award for Service.

Don Carter, a founding member of OCA, passed away in 1998.  In memory of the service Don gave to OCA, the 1998 OCA Steering Committee initiated an award in his name to be given by the Steering Committee to a member who has shown outstanding commitment to OCA.  Jackie is the sixth recipient of the award since its inception.

Jackie is one of OCA’s longest-tenured members, having joined in 1994.  Listed among her contributions to OCA are her four years on the Steering Committee, first as Service Committee Chair and then as Treasurer.  As one example of her dedication to sharing expertise in Organization Development, Jackie co-led the first Shadow Mentoring Program in 2008.  In addition, she has developed many procedures and implemented several systems that keep the organization running today.

At the event, Ken Koves, 2010 OCA Chair stated, “Jackie is an example of the best that OCA represents, and we thank her for many, many contributions to OCA and to the community.”

Congratulations!

LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP WITH ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE EXPERTS LEADS ATLANTA COMMUNITY FOOD BANK TO MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE

Atlanta, GA – Organization Change Alliance (OCA) meets on Friday, September 18 to present Learning & Service:  Atlanta Community Food Bank and OCA, a case study of the collaboration of the two not-for-profit groups since 1993.

“OCA and its members have helped us explore and implement best practices in most key areas of our organizational processes, all of which have significantly contributed to our achieving acknowledged excellence in management and service to our community,” says Rob Johnson, Chief Operating Officer at the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB).  Since working with OCA, ACFB has been awarded the Community Foundation of Metropolitan Atlanta’s top award for management excellence, the Southeast Association of Facilitators (SEAF) Facilitation Impact Award, and was nominated for the Georgia Coach Association’s PRISM award.

OCA Chair Liisa Hardaloupas, M.O.D. will welcome both ACFB staff and OCA members to share their experiences over the last 16 years to build ACFB into a well-managed organization.

OCA’s monthly meeting will be held Friday, September 18th from 9 am to 12 noon at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Registration is $20 for non-members.

Message from the Chair

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

As the OCA Chair for 2009 I would like to welcome you to our Organization Development community for sharing, learning and connection. This year we have two themes:

1. Community Building within OCA
2. Public Awareness in Greater Metro Atlanta

I’d like to talk about our first theme, because it’s at the heart of it all. This is the foundation. And we will talk more about Public Awareness in the coming months.

Community Building within OCA

It is a pleasure to host our monthly OCA program meeting at the Atlanta Community Food Bank and to see all of you come out to learn and share wisdom.

As a new community-building feature at our meetings, we will start each meeting with “Table Talk” – a proposed question and time to discuss it at your tables.  The discussion question will be relevant to that day’s presentation, and our intention is that it will provide an opportunity for each of us to connect with and learn from our colleagues.

New Blog
We have developed this blog as a means to better share news, meetings and events, and also to provide you with an opportunity to share your experiences.  We will be posting program highlights after each monthly meeting and encourage you to engage in an online conversation to extend the conversations and build in between meetings. The blog is moderated.

Blogging is new for our organization and new to me, so we are experimenting with how this can assist us in building community and awareness of our programming and what we care about as people in the business of supporting change in organizations. We appreciate you chiming in.

I look forward to seeing you at a meeting. Be sure to say hello.
And please let us know your thoughts on the blog.

Happy New Year from OCA

Monday, January 12th, 2009

January 2009 – As we end 2008 and begin the New Year the Steering Committee of the Organization Change Alliance (OCA) would like to thank all of our members and friends for another great year of monthly programs, volunteer activities, service projects, and networking opportunities.

OCA recently launched new online software to aid in event announcements and registration.  123Signup automates the new member and renewal dues process.  It also supports the distribution of general email communications.

To broaden our ability to communicate and to support online networking in the Organization Development community, OCA is now hosting a Blog that is accessible via the OCA Website: www.organizationchange.org.   As you know, OCA is comprised of committees managed by volunteers.  This blog enables committees to easily post updates for the entire community to read.  In addition, OCA members and others interested in OCA and in Organization Development have the ability to post.

Welcome to the new Blog managed by the Organization Change Alliance!
