OCA Ethical Practices

As an O.D. Professional, I commit myself to supporting and acting in accordance with the following ethical practices:

OCA members adhere to and support the Organizational Development Ethical Guidelines.

OCA members refrain from using membership or participation in a service project to solicit business or to secure special privileges for themselves, their employers, or their clients.

OCA members use the OCA mission statement to promote clarity and consistency in describing the organization's purpose to others.

The OCA logo is restricted to documents directly generated by OCA business.

OCA demonstrates its dedication to the philosophy of inclusiveness in its operating practices, as well as its pro bono engagements.

Process for Addressing Issues

When an OCA member believes a situation requires ethical guidance not available in either the adopted ODI Organization Development Ethical Guidelines, or the OCA Ethical Practices, he/she will discuss it with the Chair-Elect. The situation should involve:

  • OCA business
  • their own professional activities
  • the professional activities of other OD practitioners

Together, they will determine if:

  • the situation is covered by existing guidelines/practices
  • an existing OCA practice needs modification
  • a new OCA Ethical Practice is required

If a new or modified ethical practice is required, the Chair-Elect will present the situation to the Steering Committee for consideration and recommendation.

If approved by the Steering Committee, the Chair-Elect will work with volunteers to draft an addition to the OCA Ethical Practices.
